STEM awards each employee a charity day per year – this is our way of giving back to the community. The initiatives can be of personal choice or at a team level.
DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal
In March, the team at STEM raised an incredible £7,274 for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
With millions of people displaced from their homes, the money we have raised will help towards providing urgent supplies, shelter & safety to those who have lost their homes and loved ones due to the ongoing conflict.

Spirit of Giving
Since 2016, the team at STEM have taken part in the Spirit of Giving Campaign, where we look to raise money and collect food items that we donate to foodbanks.

Spirit of Giving 2021
In 2021, our STEM employees raised a total of 4640 (items/£) globally, making this our biggest year ever!
STEM also matched this total and donated to the Global FoodBanking Network and York Food Drive (for North America). Visit their websites to find out more about these worthy causes, and to find out more about how the donations will be used to facilitate their mission for zero hunger!
Spirit of Giving 2020
In 2020, employees at STEM gathered an incredible 3698 items to be delivered to foodbanks across the world, as well as donating £347 to foodbanks globally. STEM also matched this number and donated to global foodbanks.
On top of the foodbank donations some of our wonderful team shared stories of their volunteering for wonderful initiatives in their own local communities. Here’s just a sample of what has been going on around the world:
- Volunteering for Century 21 at a toy donation point
- Participating in Operation Christmas Child and making shoeboxes of Christmas gifts
- Volunteering at Soles4souls charity event to raise money for shoes
- Volunteering at 2nd Chance for life animal rescue centre
- Volunteering at her local shelter making breakfasts for homeless people
- Volunteering at Habitats for Humanity building walls for a day
